Gunmen kill two policemen on duty in Kogi

Two policemen have been shot dead along Okene-Ogori-Mangogo Road in Kogi State by some unidentified gunmen.

It was reliably gathered that the two policemen were on duty  in the early hours of Tuesday when they were attacked by the gunmen.

Sources close to the Kogi State Police Command told our correspondent that the suspected killers went away with two AK-47 rifles belonging to the dead cops, adding that the command had put up every measure in place to arrest the gunmen.

He said, “It is a sad occurrence,. We are  determined to get the killers.”

The Kogi State Commissioner, of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, while confirming the killings, said it was a sad day for the command.

He added that the police were on the trail of the perpetrators.

He said, “I assure members of the public that the police in the state will arrest the killers in the  next few days.”

Also speaking, the Administrator of the Ogori-Mangogo Local Government Area, Mr. Moses Akande, said it was unfortunate that the two policemen were killed as they were serving their fatherland.

He urged the state police command to do everything possible to arrest the criminals.
