Barely two weeks after hosting fun seekers in Owerri, Imo State capital and its environs to a music extravaganza, Nigeria’s fully integrated telecommunications company, Globacom, last Sunday, returned to the city to treat the residents to another round of fun and laughter as it hoisted the flag of its flagship comedy show, the  Glo Laffta Fest in  the city.

The attendees who were in their thousands commended the company for introducing the mega comedy show,  Glo Laffta Fest at a time that Nigerians  were battling with  a lot of stress-induced hardships.

A cross section of the subscribers interviewed at the show, held at the  impressive Trade and Investment Centre, Owerri, the fourth in its series, showered praises on Globacom for not only supporting entertainment despite the recession, but for also organising the popular comedy show at this time in the history of the nation.

Pius Eke, a student of the University of Technology, Owerri who was among the early  arrivals to the venue of the event, Sunday,  described the timing of the shows as ‘brilliant’.

“The anxieties of an average person in Nigeria today are many. We worry about virtually everything. Security, power, accommodation and even where our next meal will come from. But in the interest of our health, we should sometimes take our minds off these things and enjoy hearty laughter,” he said, adding that comedy makes people forget their pains and distresses.

Another subscriber, Miriam Njoku, a budding entrepreneur described Globacom as “a wonderful network that has the interest of its subscribers at heart”. She said the show presented a good avenue for her and her friends to let off steam.

“When I was called to come for the show, I was telling my friend who doesn’t use Glo to consider what she was missing. What Glo is doing is really commendable. I really love Glo and it’s all I use for calls and browsing,” she said.

Owerri was the fourth stop in the nationwide comedy show that has held in Port Harcourt, Abuja and Enugu.

The Owerri edition, anchored by fascinating actresses, Mercy Johnson and Juliet Ibrahim from Ghana, featured such interesting comic acts as AB Simple, Frank the Don, 2CanTalk and Senator. The show also featured the masters, Bovi and Basketmouth, who both gave Owerri residents unforgettable memories.

Globacom also created avenues to engage and celebrate its subscribers. Early arrivals for instance, went home with Globacom-branded gifts. There were also dance and quiz competitions.
