Again, suspected Fulani herdsmen launched an attack on two communities in Logo and Buruku local government areas of Benue State, where four persons were reported killed between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sources told our correspondent that the suspected herders attacked Mbavuur in Logo Local Government Area on Wednesday and killed two persons before proceeding to Mbaya ward in Buruku Local Government Area, where two persons were also killed.

The attacks came barely four days after the suspected Fulani herders attacked three communities namely, Tse Akaa, Mba’abaji and Tse Orlalu all in Ugondo Mbanar district of Logo Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the suspected herders proceeded to Mbaya council ward in Buruku Local Government Area and overran the entire ward with more than 4,000 cattle grazing freely in the area.

One-time Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, in Logo Local Government Area, Mr Ndiisaa Terhemen, told our correspondent on Thursday  that the invaders first stormed the Tse-Igboughul village on Tuesday at about 8pm when most people had gone to bed and shot indiscriminately, killing two people.

He said, “The attack spilled over to the next day (Wednesday), which led to 10 persons sustaining injuries as a result of gunshots. They were rushed to hospitals in Zaki-Biam and Ugba, headquarters of the local government for treatment.”

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Buruku Local Government Area, Mr Mbatseen Terngu, said over 4,000 cattle grazed freely in the area, destroying farmlands.

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Moses Yamu, said he was not aware of the attack.
