FUTA don wins Fullbright African Scholar Fellowship

A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Federal University of Technology, Akure,   Dr. Folasade Olajuyigbe, has been named winner of the   2017 Fulbright African Research Scholar Program award for advanced research in the United States for 2017/2018 academic year.

The ARSP is an international exchange programme sponsored by the United States Government.

It offers academics from top African universities the opportunity to conduct independent research at U.S. institutions.

Olajuyigbe emerged the winner from a pool of 16 candidates and an initial of 700 academics who applied for the fellowship from Nigeria.

The FUTA don is expected to focus on enzyme biotechnology and environmental health.

Over 155 countries worldwide participate in this programme.

The ARSP is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries.

While congratulating Olajuyigbe, FUTA Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, said that the award had affirmed that FUTA was one of the high-ranking universities in Nigeria with first rate faculty and students.

He said Olajuyigbe’s research visit would promote productive collaboration and build strong linkages between Rutgers and FUTA.
