The Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Felix Obuah has hailed the Appeal Court judgement dismissing the suit filed by former governor of the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

Obuah also called for the sacking of the Amaechi as the Minister of Transportation, having been indicted by the George Omereji-led panel of inquiry.

Amaechi had challenged the right of the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe his administration over the sale of some assets belonging to Rivers.

But the Appeal Court dismissed the former governor’s suit, insisting that there was nothing wrong in establishing a panel to probe the past administration.

Speaking through his Media aide, Mr. Jerry Needam, on Tuesday, Obuah said it would have amounted to gross injustice and subversion of Rivers peoples’ right if Amaechi was allowed to go without being probed after the alleged sale of valued state assets by his administration.

He expressed optimism that doing justice to the recommendations of the panel of inquiry would go a long way in making Rivers people happy and also enhance the Rivers State Government’s ability to carry out more development projects across the 23 LGAs.

“We demand justice in this matter and we would pursue it to the end,” Obuah said.

The PDP Chairman recalled that after thorough inquiry, the panel had made some recommendations after finding the former governor culpable to the allegations made against him and his administration.
