Yoruba actor and Chairman of the Theatre and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Ogun State branch, Adeshina Adesanya, has passed on.

The actor, popularly called Pastor Ajidara, died a few days after it was reported that he had kidney failure.

Ajidara was 63.

He took the role of a pastor in many of the films he acted in, with ‘Abela Pupa’ (Red Candle) being one of the works that gave him popularity.

His colleagues were in the process of raising money for his treatment when the news of his death broke on Sunday.

Stakeholders, including those on the Ibadan Film Circle, have started mourning him.

Cinematographer and producer, Tunde Kelani, described Adesanya’s death as a terrible loss.

According to him, although they did not work together when he was alive, his contribution to the growth of the theatre and film is undeniable.

Also, celebrated actor and producer, Jide Kosoko, noted that Pastor Ajidara was a force to reckon with in the industry.

Kosoko said he was effective on stage and as an administrator.

He told our correspondent on the phone on Sunday, “He was a very intelligent man. He was someone I respected so much because of the way he related with people, the way he interpreted roles and what he did as the Governor of the Ogun State TAMPAN.”
