Idris Elba set to make feature directorial debut with ‘Yardie’

British actor, Idris Elba is set to make his feature directorial debut with the drug-trafficking drama, Yardie.

Yardie is Jamaican-born British writer, Victor Headley‘s first novel which was published in 1992 and set in Hackneys in the 1980s.

It details the life of a young Jamaican who finds himself in London’s drug-dealing world.

The film will be a StudioCanal, Green Door Pictures, Sprout Pictures and BBC Films production.

Reports have it that the project is still in its casting stage at the moment.

The project is currently casting, so no word on who else is involved at the moment.

Four of the films Idris Elba is starring in will be released at different times in 2017 with Thor: RagnarokThe Dark Tower, Molly’s Game and The Mountain Between Us all set for release later in the year.
