My first car

By  |

My first car was a white Nissan Bluebird. I bought it off somebody almost 20 years ago. The person looked at me as an actor then and sold it to me for less than N500,000. My friend linked me to the seller. I remember that every time I got to the car, it didn’t say no. It would go anywhere. Some of my friends that had bigger cars would prefer to park theirs when we were going anywhere outside Lagos. But mine went everywhere, even Akure (Ondo State). It was a very strong car. I eventually gave it out; I was hoping I would keep it after buying another car. Naturally, that is what happens to everybody when they buy their first car. I had used two cars before then, but they belonged to my dad. My car wasn’t problematic in any way. There was a day I was driving and somebody saw me and said, ‘Look at Funsho Adeolu. All his mouth, look at the kind of car he is driving.’ He was wearing ‘Anko’ with his wife and children and trekking, abusing somebody that was driving a car. — Funsho Adeolu
